Esplanade Cambridge Community Service Group

The weather was perfect for the inaugural cleanup by our new Community Service Group on Wednesday, October 9.  An energetic group led by Jason Gavris included Linda Felter, Elaine Shiang, and Buzz and Mary Lee Dunn.  Everyone wore gloves and carried bags to remove litter during the outing. The garbage that was picked up filled an entire barrel in Front Park next to the Esplanade building. The local environment was markedly improved because of the group’s efforts that day.

All Esplanade residents are welcome to pitch in and pick up litter along Cambridge Parkway anytime the spirit moves them.  Cleanup supplies are available for individuals or groups in the “package room” off the lobby, in a clearly labeled basket on a shelf in the far corner.  Supplies include larger (black) gloves and smaller gloves in blue.  There are also small and larger bags to use.  A lesson learned during the group’s first outing was having a large trash bag, and an extra set of gloves might also be a good idea. Additionally, there are two trash pickup sticks in a container below the supplies to borrow to pick up trash and returned afterwards for others to use.  For more information about how to get involved, contact the Co-Chairs: Mary Lee Dunn maryleedunn@gmail.com or Linda Felter lfelter@comcast.net
