The Esplanade’s Residents’ Meeting

Approximately 40 residents met in the Tye Room on December 15. The meeting, open to all,  had been organized by Michael Altman who thought it would be good idea for those interested to discuss several items:  1) Do Esplanade residents want to meet periodically to discuss common interests and communicate those common interests to the Board of Trustees or management; 2) What issues do Esplanade residents want to identify as needing attention; 3) Should  we try to communicate with non-residents and “rarely here” residents to try to unify interests?  The discussion was focused, spirited, and respectful. And, even though the overall feeling in the group was frustration, the decision was made to meet again in January to continue the conversation and decide what to do next.  Upon leaving the meeting, one participant’s impression was: “Overall, good meeting. Those who were here tonight are disappointed with the status quo and feel unrepresented. I’m looking forward to the next meeting.” Another participant noted: “It was a worthwhile meeting if just to hear our neighbors in community.”  The ECG will continue to follow the group’s progress.
