Esplanade Residents Group: May 2024 Update
The ERG met in mid-March. There were reports of success achieved by Residents taking the initiative, forming committees and taking the lead on various issues. Two of the more successful Resident Committees, the Compost and the Water Aerobics Committees, are examples of what Residents can achieve by identifying common interests or needs and then following up with volunteer collective action. There was also continued discussion of establishing a Welcoming Committee to welcome new Esplanade residents and help them navigate living at the Esplanade and experiencing the neighborhood. It became evident in the discussion that the ECG might be the best vehicle for welcoming new residents since building community has historically been the main focus of ECG activity. There was also discussion of the possibility of establishing an Aesthetics Committee that might serve as a sounding board for any design changes or improvements to the common areas. That discussion morphed into a discussion of the Club Room and possible improvements in the way that it is furnished and used. As a result of that discussion, a group of Residents began to explore whether the addition of new AV equipment might enhance the use of the Club Room. A recent survey of Residents was taken by the AV Committee to further explore Club Room issues. The next meeting of the ERG will be in the Club Room on Tuesday, May 21 at 5 pm. All residents (whether owners or tenants) are invited to attend."
