Judy (Levy) Glassman, 73 , a resident of the Esplanade since 1999, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 31, 2021, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She left behind her loving husband of 50 years, Mitch Glassman, two sons — Adam and wife Yoo Jin of Cambridge, Matthew and wife Jeremy of Ashfield — and five grandchildren.

She was a beloved teacher, mentor and colleague for over 30 years working in the Walpole, Holliston and Lincoln school systems, retiring in 2006 after 10 years as the Principal of the Lincoln Brooks School. In retirement she became a part-time adjunct as a new teacher evaluator at Wheelock College.  She was well-known for the love she had for working with children and families, her professional leadership, her no-nonsense sense of humor, and as a loyal and life-long friend to many of her colleagues wherever her career path took her. Judy received undergraduate and Master’s degrees from Boston University and postgraduate certifications at Leslie University.

Judy was an active member of the Esplanade community, visiting the gym early most every morning and a participant in book club, movie, and scrabble groups. She was an avid runner and ran the Boston Marathon in 1986. Judy and Mitch, along with their family and friends, spent much of the year at their home Truro, Cape Cod, where cooking family meals, entertaining, hiking, and swimming were her joys; and often winters on St. John and in La Jolla. Judy was active in Democratic political activities which resulted in her winning an opportunity to dine with Barack and Michelle Obama in Washington D.C. Judy and Mitch traveled much of the world, hiking in the Alps, visiting the Soviet Union during perestroika, whitewater rafting in Chile, residing in Venice, and adventures elsewhere in the world.

Our family is deeply appreciative of the love and support from Judy’s many friends and the entire staff at the Esplanade. Judy leaves many with enriching memories and especially her brilliant blue eyes and wonderful smile.
