Café Beatrice

Café Beatrice in Cambridge Crossing is less than a mile from the Esplanade. There are so many good things to say about it. First, the setting: when it is warm enough for outside dining, there are about 20 comfortable tables spread out over a wide area. Our favorite table is about 50 yards behind the Café overlooking the pond. Second, the food offerings: every item that we have tasted is delicious. My favorite is the Cobb salad. It is big enough to be shared by two people and it is filled with fresh vegetables, blue cheese, avocado, bacon, eggs and chicken. The Thai Noodle Bowl with peanuts is also scrumptious. Barbara has enjoyed the Egg Sandwich as well as the Braised Pork Sandwich. But, beware – there are scrumptious pastries always available. I am a cookie monster and can vouch for the cookies. There are also wonderful exotic pastries such as maple kouign amann described on the menu as “combining France and New England. a laminated dough is rolled with butter, maple sugar, and a sprinkle of salt.” Finally, the coffee is excellent and the tea offerings are many. Café Beatrice is owned by Will Gilson who also owns The Puritan Restaurant on Cambridge Street. Café Beatrice is connected to two other restaurants in the same building and they are also owned by Gilson
